It's Easier Than You Think!

Have you been dreaming of starting an exciting new career in real estate? Maybe the problem is that you just don't know where to begin. Well don't worry any longer, because we have the information to help you get there.

Now to get on with why your here, we need to give you some solid information on actually becoming a real estate agent, why you would want to do so and what you can expect on your journey into the real estate industry. For most of you, getting your real estate license is going to be a quick and easy process, but here are some things for you to take into consideration.

Why Should You Become a Real Estate Salesperson:

A real estate agent also known as a real estate salesperson, has a pretty great job. Real estate is a fast-paced and rewarding industry, you can set your own hours and you get to make others dreams become a reality, what more could you ask for. Because homes command such a high sale price, the commissions that real estate agents receive can be very high, which is just one more reason new agents are flocking to the industry.

I know that I mentioned this above but it is worth repeating, becoming a real estate agent isn't as difficult as you may think it is, really. When you compare the time and money spent on licensing to the potential yearly income you can make as a real estate agent, you can start to see that the benefits are in your favor. On top of that, real estate agents have the ability to set their own hours and work outside of the office which is nice once in a while. They get the opportunity to meet new people and have that sense of satisfaction when they find the perfect home for a family just starting out.

Information on Becoming a Real Estate Agent:

Now we can get right down to the nitty gritty as they say and find out what it takes to get your real estate license and kick start that dream career. It may seem like it should go with out saying, but the number one thing you should know is that all agents are required by law to be licensed by the state in which they are doing business.

Depending on the state in which you reside, licensing can be fairly expensive when you figure in pre and post licensing courses, along with licensing and testing fees issued by the state, and some states do require college credits, although most of them don't. Usually they will require you to attend a specified amount of hours in an accredited real estate school, you might also be able to take these courses online.

Below is a list of some of the requirements you can expect to find when applying for a real estate license, but be sure to check with your state for any additional requirements they may have, before moving forward. The last thing you need are unexpected fees popping up.

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Successfully completed High school or equivalent
  • Successfully complete pre-licensing classroom hours in a state accredited real estate school
  • Complete a licensing application and submit any required licensing fees
  • Successfully complete the real estate license exam with a score of 75 or better
  • Successfully complete post-licensing classroom hours within a specified period of time

As I said above, this should only be used as a general guideline because you will find that all states differ to a certain degree on their licensing requirements for becoming a real estate agent.
